For anyone seeking a contemplating, dark, mature, serious, full of plot twist kind story, I don't think it's for you, but don't let what I said stopping you from trying this game out.Also, IMHO, you can play this game with your children. I've gone through 2 story routes when reviewing this game and I think the story is safe for everyone. Younger audience will probably like the artstyle too.. I felt it was more like a interactive book than a choose your own adventure game. You click in objects and interact with people but in my playthrough I couldn't see any important choices. True that I only played(though I finished it) it once but it was very boring so I don't feel like playing it again. It's soo boring to drag the screen to see the characters moving around. The art and the writting are good but believe me, not good enough to compensate the boring gameplay this game has. It fails in keeping the player interested in what is happening which seems like a fail to a adventure game. I can't recommend it.. Nice interactive story with quality soundtrack and pleasing visuals. The game element is minimal and the puzzles consist mostly in doing something or not doing it and in exploring the surroundings. Beware, even if you get the end titles very early in the game, as I did, you can continue playing and get multiple endings depending on your actions. Very well made.. Quite a treat, I will definately play this again with my 4 year old nephew....and I will most definately play it again when looking for a quiet game/choose your own adventure with soundtrack & minimalist animation!!!If your the kind of gamer who enjoys FPS, RTS, or turn based games, then THIS IS SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!!. The art style and dry wit alone are worthy of the time investment required to play Burly Men at Sea. The minimalist illustration style works well with the format of the game, and scenes are well-designed and draw your eye to all of the little nuances. The world in which the story is set feels alive, and the accompanying music is pleasant and sets the mood well.I really like the concept of a grown-up Choose-your-own-adventure book (i.e., not some goggle-eyed anime b00b-fest without any grasp of original plot), and was immediately drawn to this game when I watched the preview video. I enjoyed the game enough to run down every story path in the game to 100% it, and got at least mild chuckles out of the character dialogue throughout.That doesn't mean that the game is perfect. Some of the action sequences will leave you scratching your head as to what you should be doing or how dragging your mouse one direction or another should affect things. Also, to see all of the endings, you will revisit various scenes a lot of times, and there is no skip button, nor any way to save at various points in the game. To explore the next path, you'll have to go all of the way through again, from the beginning (but at least characters realize when you've been there before, and dialog is adjusted appropriately -- and usually in a funny way). Also, one of the endings gets waaaaayyyy overused, and the animation takes a few minutes to go through, so by the third or fourth time I saw it, it became a bit of an exhausted, eye-rolling moment. As such, having one or two additional original endings would have made things more interesting instead of what felt like a copy-paste to wrap up several story arcs the exact same way.Despite its flaws, I was charmed by this little game, and am impressed at the overall execution of the project by a husband-wife team to create a nice indie game that truly deserves to be on Steam. I feel like my time with Burly Men at Sea was time well spent, and I look forward to what Brain&Brain have up their collective sleeves for their next endeavor.. Stunning presentation, amazing visuals and a joyful soundtrack. The dialogue/text was a treat.
